Omaha, Nebraska | Winter Wedding | St. Johns + Omaha Design Center

Claire + Aaron

An amazing December celebration with Claire + Aaron Bauer at St. Johns- Creighton and The Omaha Design Center.  We did all of our planning long distance over the phone, but I knew I was going to adore this couple!

The funny thing is, Claire was actually a bridesmaid in a wedding a few years before; one of the photos was featured on the front page of the website when she found me. I remember when she called and said, "I'm actually already on your website! In fact, I'm the bridesmaid laughing way too obnoxiously on your front page!"  I would like to amend this and say her laugh is not obnoxious it is bright and beautiful.

Shortly before their wedding date, we met up at Aromas Coffee for all the final details, to chat and share a coffee.   It's such a pleasure to spend time with our couples before the big day, either with engagement sessions or coffee dates or even both!  Getting to know each other and talk about life beyond the wedding makes shooting it that much more personal.

May I just say I'm ohhh, so in love with winter weddings? I had four December weddings last year and I'm now 100% in love with winter celebrations. It's unique, lovely, cozy and ... well something about it is magical.

Claire and Aaron both trusted Nina and I completely, it's an honor to create stunning images for someone on their wedding day.  Especially, when they give you creative freedom to say, "Hey let's try this it might be awesome!"  Sometimes, it's as simple as asking for a room change, like we did at Creighton's St. Johns for getting ready photos...I'm in love with the results.  Sometimes you get a feeling and just go with it.

December in the midwest can make for a cold wedding but we had fun creating images outside. Between the lovely golden afternoon and the sparkly evening - these two with their "let's just enjoy this" attitude made for a fabulous collection.

Be sure to read about the wedding and some other sage thoughts from Claire in the next Real Bride blog post.
